How We Grew a Client's Organic Traffic by 300% in 6 Months

Case studies are more convincing than promises. So instead of telling you what we can do, let us show you what we've done.

This is the story of how we took a local service business in Jamshedpur from barely visible on Google to ranking in the top 3 for their most important keywords — growing organic traffic by over 300% in six months.

We'll share the exact strategy, the specific tactics, and the real numbers. No fluff, no exaggeration.

The client

A professional services firm in Jamshedpur offering accounting, tax filing, and business registration services. They'd been in business for over 8 years with an excellent reputation offline — but almost zero online presence.

Starting position (Month 0):

  • Website: Built on WordPress with a generic theme, 4 pages, no blog
  • Monthly organic visitors: ~200
  • Google rankings: Not in top 50 for any target keyword
  • Google Business Profile: Claimed but incomplete — 2 photos, 3 reviews
  • Page speed: 38/100 on mobile (extremely slow)
  • No content strategy, no SEO setup

They were getting all their clients through word-of-mouth and JustDial. Which worked — until it didn't. New competitors were appearing in Google searches, and they were losing potential clients who searched online first.

The strategy

We didn't start with tactics. We started with understanding the opportunity.

Keyword research

We identified 45 keywords relevant to their services in Jamshedpur and Jharkhand. We categorised them by:

  • High intent (ready to hire): "CA firm Jamshedpur," "GST filing service near me," "company registration Jamshedpur"
  • Medium intent (researching): "how to file GST returns," "documents needed for company registration"
  • Informational (early stage): "GST vs income tax difference," "types of business registration in India"

The insight: competition for these keywords in Jamshedpur was extremely low. Most competitors had weak websites with no content strategy. This meant we could rank relatively quickly with the right approach.

The three-pillar plan

  1. Technical foundation — Rebuild the website for speed and SEO
  2. Content engine — Create content targeting our priority keywords
  3. Local authority — Build local citations and reviews

Month 1: The technical foundation

Website rebuild

We rebuilt their website on Next.js, replacing the slow WordPress site entirely.

Before:

  • Page speed: 38/100 (mobile)
  • Load time: 8.2 seconds
  • 4 pages, no blog, no structure

After:

  • Page speed: 92/100 (mobile)
  • Load time: 1.4 seconds
  • 12 pages with proper structure, dedicated service pages, blog section

The speed improvement alone was transformative. Google directly rewards fast sites with better rankings, and users are far more likely to stay and engage.

On-page SEO setup

For every page, we implemented:

  • Optimised title tags with target keywords
  • Compelling meta descriptions
  • Proper heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3)
  • Internal linking between related pages
  • Schema markup (LocalBusiness, ProfessionalService)
  • Optimised images with descriptive alt text

Technical SEO

  • XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console
  • Robots.txt configured properly
  • Canonical tags implemented
  • Mobile-first design verified
  • HTTPS confirmed
  • Core Web Vitals all passing

Month 2–3: The content engine

This is where the real growth began. We published 8 blog posts over two months, each targeting specific keywords:

  1. "How to Register a Company in Jamshedpur — Complete Guide"
  2. "GST Filing for Small Businesses in Jharkhand — Everything You Need to Know"
  3. "CA vs Tax Consultant: Which Does Your Business Need?"
  4. "Documents Required for Company Registration in India (2025 Updated)"
  5. "How Much Does a CA Charge in Jamshedpur?"
  6. "ITR Filing Guide for Salaried Employees in Jharkhand"
  7. "Best CA Firms in Jamshedpur — What to Look For"
  8. "Startup Registration in India — Step-by-Step Process"

Each post was:

  • 1,500–2,500 words of genuinely useful, well-researched content
  • Optimised for one primary keyword with 2–3 secondary keywords
  • Written in clear, accessible language (not legal jargon)
  • Included FAQs at the bottom (targeting People Also Ask queries)
  • Internally linked to relevant service pages

Content strategy insight

We specifically targeted "how much" and "how to" keywords because:

  • They have clear search intent — someone looking for answers
  • They're relatively easy to rank for in Tier 2 markets
  • They attract people who are actively considering hiring a professional
  • They build trust by demonstrating expertise

Month 2–3: Local authority

Simultaneously, we worked on strengthening their local search presence.

Google Business Profile optimisation

  • Added 25 high-quality photos (office exterior, interior, team at work)
  • Wrote a comprehensive business description with relevant keywords
  • Added all services with descriptions
  • Set up Google Posts (weekly updates about tax deadlines, new regulations)
  • Implemented a systematic review collection process

Review generation

We helped them create a simple system:

  • After every completed engagement, send a WhatsApp message thanking the client
  • Include a direct link to leave a Google review
  • Follow up once after 3 days if no review was left

Result: They went from 3 reviews to 28 reviews in 6 months, with a 4.8 average rating.

Local citations

We ensured consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) information across:

  • Google Business Profile
  • JustDial
  • Sulekha
  • IndiaMART
  • Yellow Pages India
  • Industry-specific directories (ICAI, local business associations)

The results

Business impact

  • Monthly organic leads: 0 → 15–20 enquiries/month from organic search
  • Google Maps visibility: Appearing in top 3 Local Pack for key service queries
  • Cost per lead: ₹0 (organic traffic is free)
  • Client acquisition cost: Reduced by approximately 60% compared to JustDial leads

What changed for the business

The client reported that for the first time, potential clients were calling and saying, "I found you on Google." Previously, 100% of new business came through referrals or JustDial. After 6 months of SEO:

  • 40% of new clients came through organic search
  • 30% through Google Maps
  • 30% through traditional referrals

The organic channel continues to grow without additional investment, while JustDial requires ongoing payments for visibility.

Key takeaways

1. Speed matters enormously

The website rebuild from 38 to 92 on PageSpeed wasn't just a technical improvement — it was a ranking factor upgrade. Google directly rewards fast sites, and users stay longer on fast sites, which further improves rankings.

2. Content is the growth engine

Without blog content, they would have ranked for a handful of brand-related terms at best. The 8 blog posts accounted for over 60% of their organic traffic by month 6. Each post continues to bring traffic months after publishing.

3. Local SEO is low-hanging fruit in Tier 2 cities

Competition for local keywords in Jamshedpur is still remarkably low. Businesses that invest in local SEO now can establish dominant positions that would be 5–10x harder (and more expensive) to achieve in metro cities.

4. Reviews compound over time

The systematic review collection shifted them from invisible on Google Maps to consistently appearing in the top 3. Reviews are the strongest signal for local search rankings.

5. SEO compounds — ads don't

After 6 months, their organic traffic generates 15–20 leads/month at zero cost per click. To generate the same volume through Google Ads at their industry's average CPC, they'd be spending ₹15,000–₹30,000/month. The SEO investment paid for itself within 4 months and continues to deliver free returns indefinitely.
